Boiling Wells Nature Reserve
Children will spend time at the Boiling Wells Nature Reserve, located approximately 5 minutes away from the main farm site. We have a larch barn for indoor space, 2 acres of land to enjoy where children will be immersed in fun, interactive games and teambuilding. They will learn how to make fire by friction, hazel pencils, how to build a shelter out of natural materials, paint each others faces, go pond dipping and look at their findings under microscopes. They will learn about the water cycle, birds and wild animals, make pizzas in the cob oven, make paper and do other art projects.
Main Farm Site
Children will also spend time at the main farm site, where they will help feed and muck out the animals and learn about their special adaptations. We will talk about where our food comes from, do some sketching and fun teambuilding activities and at the end of the day have a cookie quiz. On farm days, children will be able to enjoy all the benefits a working farm has to offer, which includes spending time with all our animals, even the piglets!
Farm Cafe
On Tuesdays the farm café will be hosting a very special cooking class for summer camp members. Children will collect eggs, make fresh pasta and tomato sauce and bring it home to enjoy with their families.
Trail Exploration
The trail hike incorporates exploring nature trails in the local area, identifying birds with binoculars, learning about plants and trees, playing an all camp game and teambuilding.
Friday Closing Ceremony
At 3pm on Fridays we have a closing ceremony which parents are invited to. You will get to see all the exiting projects that your child has created during the week, explore the Boiling Wells Nature Reserve, learn the camp song and watch skits designed and created by the children. Afterwards you are free to explore the farm and have the children introduce you to all the animals.
