St Werburghs City Farm
Café
The award-winning Café is open 6 days/week, 10am - 4pm Winter, and 10am - 5pm Summer (closed Tuesdays). It provides delicious wholesome food, internet access, external catering, cookery lessons for children or adults, private parties, and cooking demonstrations.
As much food as possible is organic, fair-trade, wild and local, including eggs, meat, vegetables and salad from St Werburghs City Farm.
The Café has been managed independently since 2005 via a six month licence agreement by Leona Williamson - so please note it is not part of the charity.
Leona came second in the UKTV Food Local Hero 2007 Awards and her two TV appearances and the resulting press coverage brought many new people to the Farm. In March 2008 she won the Observer Food Monthly Awards 2008, Best Ethical Contribution.
This Summer the cafe is teaming up with the farm Summer Camp and is offering fresh pasta and tomato sauce cookery classes to children registered on the programme. Children will collect eggs and all the other fresh ingredients from the farm, talk about where their food comes from and create a feast which they can then take home to enjoy with their families.
